Marton & District Primary School won the 2019 Congleton Town Sports Event last night with some really impressive individual and team performances. The competition has schools graded based on their size and Marton came out top in the boys, girls and overall school sections in the small school category.
During the evening, Marton pupils claimed Two Town Sports Games Records. Imaya in Year 6 gained the standing long jump gold medal with a jump of 2.26m, the previous record was 2.05m set in 2013. The Year 6 80 m relay team also claimed gold with a time of 47.00 secs, beating the previous record of 48.30 secs.
All of the participants from Marton contributed to the success of the evening and special thanks to Mrs Deakin and the Marton Staff and Parents for their support on the night, to Kaite and Bea Worlock for their assistance in motivating the team and assisting with the organisation and record keeping and to Mr Marks for his outstanding commitment and dedication to school sports.
