Ramadan Celebrations in After School Club

Eid Mubarak to all

Ramadan this year started on Friday 26th May and ended on Saturday 24th June, Ramadan is the holy month for the muslim world, it is a month of prayers, fasting, and celebration during the night.

So to celebrate Ramadan our After School Children had lots of fun making crafty items with the Kickstart Team last week, and also learnt a little bit more about Ramadan and fasting.

The muslim calendar is based on lunar phases. And the month of Ramadan covers a full cycle. So we made some star bunting and used potatoes to make our moon prints.

We also had some fun painting our hands in Henna style, Mehndi, the art of painting henna on the body, is usually used for weddings, but is also used during celebrations such as the Muslim Festival of Eid, or the Hindu holiday of Diwali.
