The Year 1 children at Marton Primary School have been learning all about the basics of tag rugby over the last couple of weeks. They have been taught how to use the 5 points of contact to hold the ball correctly and at the same time keeping the ball in 2 hands.
Mairead and Rebecca, our sports coaches, have been training the Year 1 class how to score tries in a game of rugby. The children have also developed very good defending skills by working together in teams to take other people’s tags, to stop attackers getting past them and defending the human defensive wall, otherwise known as the Great Wall of Marton.
They will soon be playing a full game of rugby in no time at all.
