Highfield after school basketball club ran over 2 terms and has been a fun and engaging club. The children have learnt all the rules of basketball whilst showing progression and development within the sport. The skills they have learnt are how to dribble without double dribbling or travelling, the correct way to shoot and the different types of passing that can be used.
The children have been able to transfer their new found skills into playing a match whilst learning how to work as a team. It took a couple of weeks for the younger children to score a basket, but by the last session everyone was able to score at least five. Some of the older children progressed even further by learning how to shoot a lay-up, using the correct technique as taught. The whole group thoroughly enjoyed this club and surprised themselves on how much they improved over the weeks.
Well done Highfield – keep reaching for the sky!
