Another great week has been enjoyed at our Holiday club @ St Matthews C of E Primary in Stretford. It is our last week before the schools restart next week. So, how better to celebrate than have a party?
On Tuesday the children cut out and made party bunting. This was a combined effort with differing children making each letter until it spelled out “Summer Holiday Party”
Wednesday saw the children making their own party invitations, party hats and paper chain decorations. Lots of glitter, sequins and enthusiasm was used.
On Thursday the children made their own straw blowers, table decorations and a very unique table cloth which they wanted to design for the celebrations. A great deal of colour, thought and time was taken. I wonder if you can spot your child’s input?
Friday – party day. The day started with the children making rice crispy cakes. They wanted to decorate them with marshmallows and chocolate chips. After a run-around outside the party really got underway as the entertainment van arrived, to much excitement. The children were grouped according to ages with the older ones going onto the games bus to play digital games such as ‘Fifa’, ‘Minecraft’ & ‘Rocket league’. This gave them great opportunity to cope with sharing, time restraints and good old competition. Whilst the older children honed their digital and social skills – the younger children were playing more traditional party games inside. The groups swapped over and the younger ones got to have a turn at Minecraft and some dance mat routines.
After a very excited lunch time the children were then encouraged to try their hand (or voice) on the Karaoke. Almost all the children attempted it and encouraged each other to try. Even Linda and Lisa were encouraged to join in, which amused the children a great deal. The entertainment van left but the party continued with games and food. Feedback was very positive from the very tired children (and staff!)
