Over the last few weeks in afterschool club the children have been looking at Harvest, Autumn and Animals.
To celebrate harvest the children took part in activities such as: making sweetcorn pictures using cheerios to depict the sweetcorn in the middle of the leaves, Harvest baskets, adding pictures of their favourite fruits, as well as ‘dingle dangle’ scarecrows, using a variety of media.
For Autumn staff took some of the children out around the school grounds picking leaves up for our first activity of the week which was leaf painting. The children made some beautiful pictures with all the different sized leaves and some Autumn coloured paints. With some of the leaves left over the children made wreaths which are displayed in the hub as well as making animal out of them, such as owls, hedgehogs, cats and a creepy spider.
To complete the term, children of St Matthew’s made animal mask which looked really good, they also made lolly pop stick dogs which were very cute, lady bugs out of toilet roll holders and plenty of paint as well as 3D caterpillars which was very wriggly.
The staff hope the children enjoyed the term as much as they have enjoyed being with them, and look forward to the coming Christmas festivities.
