At Kickstart, we believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive, not just in the classroom, but in life. That’s why we’re thrilled to launch our latest initiative: the Mini Movers Programme, a dynamic early years intervention designed to build strong physical foundations for Reception aged children.
Why Mini Movers?
In today’s digital age, more children than ever are arriving at school with underdeveloped motor skills. Increased screen time, reduced physical play, and prolonged time in buggies are all contributing factors. These early delays can lead to lasting challenges with learning, participation, and confidence.
As King et al. (2022) put it:
“If the appropriate interventions are not put in place, children without strong movement foundations are placed at a disadvantage compared to their peers.”
What Is Mini Movers?
Mini Movers is a 10-week, school-based programme launching in September 2025. Delivered by our experienced Kickstart coaches, it provides:
- Early Years Physical Screening: Every child is assessed to identify key areas where support is most needed.
- Targeted Weekly Interventions: Sessions focus on boosting fundamental movement skills like balance, agility, and coordination through fun, purposeful activities.
- Collaborative Integration: We work alongside teaching staff to embed movement strategies across the school day, ensuring sustained impact well beyond the programme.
Built on Fun, Backed by Evidence
Mini Movers is more than just active play. It’s a focused, evidence-based approach designed to empower children with the confidence, habits, and physical skills they need to succeed inside and outside the classroom.
Be Part of the Solution
Recent research reveals a worrying national trend—but together, we can change the story. Mini Movers offers schools the opportunity to address physical development challenges head-on, creating lasting benefits for every child.
