What you will need:
- Shallow tray of water
- Pepper
- Hand soap

How to do it:
- Fill the tray with water.
- Sprinkle pepper over the surface of the water.
- Explain to the children that the pepper represents invisible germs on our hands and surfaces.
- Ask children to dip a finger into the water and observe how the “germs” stick to their finger.
- Wipe their finger clean, then dip into soap.
- Dip the soapy finger back into the water and watch as the “germs” move away.
What Will the Children Learn:
Helps children understand the importance of handwashing, especially using soap to remove germs.
Top Tips:
Use fine pepper in a white or light-coloured tray/bowl so the “germs” are easy to see clearly.
