Kickstart at Canon Burrows C Of E Primary
Hello everyone, welcome to our half-termly Keeping Up with Kickstart newsletter. Here’s a snapshot of what children have been enjoying recently at Canon Burrows, along with key updates and what’s coming up next.
What’s Been Happening
This half term, our main focus has been the Men’s World Cup, with children getting creative by designing their own football shirts, making bunting and creating trophies from playdough. Of course, there has also been plenty of football and team-based activities for everyone to enjoy.
Alongside our World Cup celebrations, children explored an Under the Sea theme, creating sea habitats in our tuff trays and using a variety of craft materials to design colourful underwater scenes.
We have also continued to encourage learning through arts and crafts while exploring science, nature and animal habitats. As part of our World Cup activities, children have enjoyed learning about different countries from around the world.
To finish the term, children will be taking part in insect-themed activities, including creating their own insects, building bug hotels and carrying out scientific investigations to discover what lives in and around our outdoor spaces.
Highlight of the Term
- Celebrated the Women’s World Cup through a variety of themed activities and crafts.
- Designed football shirts, created bunting and made playdough trophies.
- Enjoyed a memorable moment watching England score during a World Cup match, with everyone celebrating together at club.
- Explored different countries, cultures and habitats through creative learning activities.

Important Information
As the weather remains warm, please ensure your child attends with:
- A named water bottle.
- A sun hat or cap.
- Sun cream applied before arriving at club. If your child needs to reapply sun cream during the day, please ensure they bring a named bottle with them.
