Kickstart at St Matthew’s CE Primary
Hello everyone, welcome to our half-termly Keeping Up with Kickstart newsletter. Here’s a snapshot of what children have been enjoying recently at St Matthew’s, along with key updates and what’s coming up next.
What’s Been Happening
It’s been another busy and exciting half term at Kickstart!
Children kicked off the term with a mythical week, working together to design and build their very own castle using their creativity, teamwork and imagination.
We then celebrated Father’s Day, where children created thoughtful gifts including coasters, keyrings and keepsake poems. Families also enjoyed a special stay-and-play session with tea, coffee and cake. During the same week, we marked World Music Day by making musical instruments and decorating record-themed biscuits.
As we celebrated Eid, children took part in a variety of themed activities while making the most of the sunny weather with outdoor play and refreshing ice lollies.
The following week saw us celebrate Wimbledon and the Women’s World Cup through sports, crafts and outdoor activities. Children also created thank-you cards and badges for local NHS staff to celebrate the NHS birthday and recognise the amazing work they do.
We finished the half term with an under the Sea theme, learning about ocean conservation and marine life. The children particularly enjoyed making shark-themed dessert treats to share at home with their families.
Highlight of the Term
- Created personalised Father’s Day gifts for their special person.
- Enjoyed a successful Father’s Day stay-and-play session with activities, cake and refreshments.
- Celebrated several special events including Eid, World Music Day, Father’s Day and the NHS Birthday.
- Delivered thank-you cards and badges to local NHS staff to show appreciation for their hard work.

Important Information
As the weather remains warm, please ensure your child attends with:
- A named water bottle.
- A sun hat or cap.
- Sun cream applied before arriving at club. If your child needs to reapply sun cream during the day, please ensure they bring a named bottle with them.
