The end of an era at Marton as the Class of 2020 are showered with Kickstart Badges

Kickstart and the Class of 2020 signed off from Marton with a wonderful outdoor event that was hosted by the Dodd Family and culminated in a wonderful game of family rounders where the children beat the adults.

Due to COVID-19, the event was limited in numbers and measures were put in place in terms of the sports equipment but that did not stop everyone having a brilliant time.

At the start of the evening, the Kickstart Badges were presented and it was acknowledged how everyone had worked hard to achieve their awards in what were difficult and unprecedented circumstances.

In addition to the considerable amount of bronze and silver badges that were presented, there were also four gold and two red badges awarded for excellence in sport and inspiration.

Ben and Billy received gold badges in recognition of their achievements. Dean made particular reference to both boys and the fact that they have developed in confidence and have represented the school at various sporting events and competitions.

Maddie and Millie were also awarded gold and in addition were each presented with the Inspiration Red Badge award for their commitment to sport. Both girls have been shining lights in PE and have always given 100% effort and had a positive attitude to everything they have done.

Millie has represented the school at a number of different events, she has competed in sports outside of school, in particular netball and she has been an infectious and inspiring member of the class who has grown in confidence and has become more competitive as the years have passed.

Maddie is a natural leader and a brilliant team-player, who always encourages others and has a natural passion and talent for a range of sports. Maddie has supported younger children at school, she has represented a number of teams and she has actively sought to keep active through lockdown, even writing to Dean asking for some things to do. As well as representing school at Town Sports and competing in cheer and dance outside of school, Maddie has also took part in as many competitions as she could, including netball, hockey, swimming, football and the list goes on.

Congratulations to all of the class of 2020, the children have been a pleasure to coach and teach and they will go on to be stars and spread their wings at Secondary School, we will miss each and every one of them.

Thank you to James and Hayley Dodd for hosting what was a memorable and brilliant celebration.
