Kickstart were delighted to work with Mesne Lea Primary School in Walkden to organise and deliver the first Kickstart Christmas Fayre. We were honoured to have secured a visit from Santa Claus himself and he told us that he always enjoys visiting the school. In addition to having our special VIP, we also welcomed a number of local businesses, community groups and charities to come and sell their products in our winter markets, which were a great success.
Coffee on the Common, Rowan Tree Kitchen and Dev’s Ice Creams all offered food and drink to visitors and this was very well received. Even the ice cream was a hit with the children in arctic conditions!
Children in school had worked hard to make things to sell as part of their Design Technology curriculum and there was everything from Christmas pizzas to Christmas decorations, games and cakes.
The event could not have happened without the hard work of the Kickstart and Mesne Lea staff, it really was a great team effort and shows what can be done when there is such a positive partnership. There was a total of £575 profits raised for school and this has been donated in full to be spent on the children.
This was the first Community Christmas Fayre we have ran and it was a magical experience for all. We look forward to attending and running more events in the future.
